The Allen-Bradley 1771-IAD Series D module is a modular component in the Allen-Bradley 1771 I/O system that requires a properly installed system chassis. Proper installation includes protecting the module from electrostatic damage when handling it. The 1771-IAD can work with all Allen-Bradley chassis except for the 1771 A1, 1771 A2, and the 1771 A4. Ensure that there is no single-card block transfer or any other input module is placed in the same module group when using a 2-slot addressing. Any other discrete output module can be used in the same group.
The 1771-IAD Series D module is equipped with an adjustable delay time jumper. This delay time can be applicable to all 16 channels and operators may use it to select between input delays for the channels. For detecting general input readings, there is a delay of 5ms, and then when preventing false inputs in the case of high–noise environments, the delay allowance is up to 20ms. These delays will have to be adjusted by the users because the module is shipped with a set delay time of 5ms. To adjust it to 20 ms, users need to locate the delay time jumper selection plug which can be found on the top-right end of the 1771-IAD module. Users can slide the jumper to 20ms with their fingers.
It requires a maximum of 195mA from the output of the 1771 I/O backplane chassis. Operators should be careful to prevent overloading by calculating this capacity to be compatible with that of all the other modules. The same power source is to be used to power both modules in order to ensure proper phasing and to prevent damage to the module. All the 1771-IAD modules should receive power from the same AC phase source. Operators can also use an Allen-Bradley 1771-OA output module to drive an AC/DC 120 V input module with one of the following devices installed between the output terminals; an RG 1676-1 electro-cube or a 2500ohm (10W) resistor. Keying of the 1771-IAD module may be done in any of the available slots except those reserved for the processors and adaptors.
